Introduction

Annapurna region is famous for trekking. The natural magnificent view of the Himalayas and the beautiful lakes make this trek interesting with a vision of awe. Ice lake stands at 4600m and is often frozen. From May to October when the lake melts you see the giant shadow of the surrounding mountains in the sparkling blue lake. The lake is right above the Braka village with the trail leading uphill through the yak pastures. The trail is tough but much worth a trek up for a breathtaking mountain view of Mt. Manaslu , Lamjung himal, the giant Annapurna range, Tilicho peak with Marshyandi valley and Gangapurna glacier lake. Tilicho lake (4949m) stands at the foot of Tilicho peak. The source of the lake is the entire glacier from the slope of the Tilicho peak. The lake is frozen from December to April. Other times you see the actual form of the sparkling blue lake. This lake carries a religious significance. The lake is surrounded by the Himalayas. The end of the lake leads to the Mesokunda pass. You get panoramic view of Himalayas from Tilicho.

This trek starts from en route of the Annapurna circuit. The Annapurna circuit is rich with pure natural nature starting from Bulbule. The first few days, the route runs along the Marshyandi river at lower elevation, passing lush green subtropical valley with multi-cultural ethnic groups from the villages and the farming of paddy and wheat. The trail then goes uphill leading to a giant gorge along the river. The air gets colder with strong winds as you move uphill. On reaching Manang territory the scene changes with a view of massive cliffs. You then walk through the gorge, into the dense forest, passing waterfalls.

Leaving the greeneries behind, the valley become's wider with an awesome view of snow-capped Himalayan mountains. This is the Manang valley surrounded by mountains 360º degrees. The trail moves on passing the giant mountains of the Himalayas- Manaslu, Lamjung himal, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Gangapurna, Pissang peak, Jhulu. From Braga the trail gets steeper, trekking through the ridge to Ice lake, continuing to the Yak pasture, passing Khangsar, Shree Kharka, Tilicho base Camp arriving at the beautiful, sparkling, blue Tilicho lake. The trail now is a steep climb to Thorong La pass 5416m which is the world's highest trekking pass-Thorong La pass. From the top of the pass you get a magnificent view of the Marshyandi valley and the Kaligandaki valley. After the pass its a descend to Muktinath with still more stunning views of the Himalayas. The trek continues along Kali Gandaki valley with ferocious winds blowing right against you, taking you to Jomsom the end of the trek.
